Earlier this month, we did our first Volunteer Day of the year with Project C.U.R.E. During our time working with them, we were able to organize, sort, and pack medical equipment to be distributed around the world. One of our retirees and his wife, John and Kimberly Johanns, works closely with the team at Project C.U.R.E., and were able to help us sign up to participate for a few hours.

Project C.U.R.E. was founded in 1987 to address the staggering shortage of medical resources around the world. Through the years, the organization has become the world’s largest distributor of donated medical supplies, equipment and services to doctors and nurses across more than 135 countries. Today, under the leadership of Jim’s son, Dr. Douglas Jackson, Project C.U.R.E. operates an international headquarters and seven distribution warehouses in the continental United States. Since 2000, Project C.U.R.E. has delivered over $1b in medical supplies and equipment. The organization has approximately 35 paid staff and more than 30,000 volunteers who provide nearly 200,000 hours of donated time each year.

Project C.U.R.E. offers assistance through four primary programs. C.U.R.E. Cargo delivers semi-truck-sized containers of medical equipment and supplies. C.U.R.E. Kits provide basic medical supplies in 50-pound, airline friendly packaging for medical mission trips. C.U.R.E. Clinics are opportunities for medical professionals to travel with Project C.U.R.E. to work with doctors and nurses at Partner locations. C.U.R.E. College is a collection of training programs to educate medical providers around the world. There are numerous ways to get involved with Project C.U.R.E. You can donate medical supplies and equipment, volunteer in one of their seven warehouses across the United States, deliver C.U.R.E. Kits when traveling abroad, pack Kits for Kids, attend an event, or travel with them on a C.U.R.E. Clinics trip.

Our Volunteer Day with Project C.U.R.E. was truly inspiring. It felt great to roll up our sleeves and contribute to such a meaningful cause. By organizing and packing medical supplies, we got a firsthand look at the incredible work Project C.U.R.E. does to support healthcare around the world. We encourage everyone to find a way to get involved—whether it's donating supplies, volunteering at a warehouse, or joining a C.U.R.E. Clinics trip. Together, we can make a real difference and help ensure that vital medical resources reach those who need them most.
