Women in Construction (WIC) Week, celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) held the first WIC Week in 1998. Since then, the week, typically celebrated in early March, has grown and expanded. All women working in construction are eligible for membership, including women builders in the trades, project management, marketing, administration, and executive leadership. Women in related industries who work on construction related business, such as finance, legal, and other complementary industries, are also welcome.
As woman-owned construction company, Alcorn participates in WIC Week to honor all the women we work with. According the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 11.2% of the people employed in the industry are women. Companywide, roughly 18% of the people employed at Alcorn Construction are women. We are proud to help promote Women in Construction Week and the NAWIC to help grow the role of women in the construction industry.
